Halesowen Cycling Club (HACC) is once again hosting a cycling sportive on Sunday 28th August. What is a cycling sportive you may ask? A cycling sportive is a non-competitive long distance cycling event.
This years challenging 100km course sees a new route leaving HACC in the direction of Hagley and goes on to register an elevation gain of 4,350 feet over its 64.7 mile route.
If 100 miles sounds like too much there’s also a 50km route for riders who may be entering their first sportive. It gives you the opportunity of riding the 31.2 mile course through several beautiful North Worcestershire villages before arriving back at the HACC track to complete the route.
Both courses will again start with a lap of the clubs cycle track before setting off towards the Worcestershire countryside. The 100km route will head towards Hagley and beyond whilst the 50km route climbs up towards Romsley and the Clent Hills before descending towards Broome and the Worcestershire countryside before eventually rejoining the 100km route for the final 17 miles. The ride culminates in a final descent to the club house and finish, where refreshments, bar and showers will all be available to the riders after completing the fully signed routes.
Last year’s event saw over £1,000 donated to the chosen 2015 charity, Well of Life Charity appeal. This year the club hope to raise even more for their chosen charity, Compton Hospice.
The club and the town welcome you to help achieve this whilst enjoying the 2016 Halesowen 100 Sportive.
Go Outdoors, is the premier sponsor for this year’s event.
If you’d like to take part please see the HACC website for more details or use the British Cycling website sign up form.
