The Crafty Pint
Such is the popularity of The Crafty Pint you may not be able to get inside!

Calling all fans of real ale, The Crafty Pint is now open!

On Thursday 25th August, local resident Andy Davies opened the doors to Halesowen’s first micropub – ‘The Crafty Pint’. Situated on the corner of the Hagley Road and Wassell Road (opposite Tesco) the micropub provides visitors and local residents a warm welcome, traditional pub values and quality real cask ales.

“Since we’ve opened the response has been unbelievably positive! We’ve been busy every night! We’ve already seen friends reunited, strangers become friends and new fans to real ale.”

“Without technology people actually talk to each other. We hope that The Crafty Pint brings people together and supports a sense of community in Halesowen. So far the response has been nothing but positive.”

Plans are already underway to expand the pub with the purchase of the property next door.

Micropubs are becoming increasingly popular in the UK with over 260 currently across England and southern Scotland. The idea started with Martyn Hillier who opened his micropub, The Butchers Arms, in 2005. Since then many other landlords have followed suit and opened similar establishments. They each share the philosophy of a simple pub with the focus on cask beer and conversation for entertainment’. Keep It Small, Keep It Simple is their motto.

Andy worked for many years for Bulmers (Bulmers Cider) and Whitbread (brewery behind Stella Artois) but after moving back to the area with his wife he decided to open the micropub.

This fantastic micropub is not to be missed! Make sure you drop in and say hi to Andy and the team.
