Last year the celebrations saw over 43,000 people enter the town and the plans are to make this year even bigger! Wayne Edwards, Chairman of the Halesowen Chamber of Trade and organiser of the day commented: “This year it’s going to be massive! We’ve got Black Country Radio providing us with entertainment, a fun fair, food stalls and our very own local girl, Jordanne Whiley MBE joining us to switch on the lights! Make sure you keep the 19th free and join us to celebrate Christmas early!”
Throughout the day the town will be filled with live music, street entertainers and stalls in a packed programme featuring:
- Giant Fun Fair
- Christmas Market
- Jordanne Whiley MBE – switching on the lights
- Food stalls including the Swing-Grill
- Entertainment provided by Black Country Radio
- Special Guest: Father Christmas
Jordanne Whiley is Britain’s most successful tennis player EVER after completing a feat that has eluded all previous disabled and able bodied tennis players – a calendar Grand Slam of all four majors! The 24-year-old wheelchair tennis champion, who has brittle bone disease, has won the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open doubles crowns! She has even received an MBE from the Princess Royal. We are therefore delighted that Jordanne has agreed to switch on the lights in her hometown.
The entertainment will start around 11am and the lights will be switched on at 5.00pm. Make sure you mark Saturday November 19th in your diary!
