A trial for free parking in Halesowen is set to begin on Monday (24th April) and will last for 6 weeks. The initiative by Dudley Council will be held across Halesowen, Dudley, Brierley Hill and Sedgley. It’s aim is to assess the effect of free parking on the number of visitors to town centres.
Anyone wanting to take advantage of the scheme just needs to print and display a free parking ticket from the machines already on site.
Alan Lunt from Dudley Council commented “Dudley council wants to see if reduced parking charges could provide a boost to local trade.”
“As a result, they will pilot a two hour free parking scheme in different types of retail centres across the borough to see how it impacts on numbers of shoppers. I’m sure people will want to take advantage of this free period and we will be keen to see how results could influence future parking policies.”
